The regional seminar of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for the CIS countries

The regional seminar “Trends in development and experience in the use of satellite communications” of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for the CIS countries was held on May 22-23 in Minsk. The event was organized by the ITU regional office and Giprosvyaz OJSC with the support of the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus. The seminar was attended by delegates from the Russian Federation, the republics of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, ITU and Belarusian enterprises and organizations.

Twelve speakers presented their reports to the audience. Topics covered both regulatory issues related to the management of the radio-frequency spectrum, as well as technical proposals and solutions for the projects implementation in the field of space communications. The topic of microsatellites and low-orbit multisatellite systems was of particular interest at the seminar. Presentations are posted on the ITU website.

As part of the seminar, there was an excursion the ground control station and teleport “Belintersat”. Station technological facilities and capabilities were demonstrated to delegates.

Head of the project “Belintersat” Andrey Abramov presented his report “The experience of the national operator in the creation and operation of the satellite communication and broadcasting system”.

The seminar ended with a “round table”, where the participants discussed topical issues and exchanged views.

There was a RCC meeting of the working group on satellite technologies was held immediately after the end of the seminar. The meeting had open format, attended by those attending the seminar. The documents of the meeting are presented on the RCC website.
